Matthew Warchus is a director of theatre, opera and film. He currently has two shows running in the West End, Speed-the-Plow (Old Vic) and the theatrical adaptation The Lord of the Rings, which he also co-wrote. Other theatre includes: Boeing-Boeing (Comedy), Buried Child (NT), Endgame (Albery), Our House (Cambridge Theatre, 2003 Olivier Award for Best Musical), Follies (Broadway, five Tony nominations), Life x 3, (NT, Old Vic, UK tour and Broadway), True West (Donmar Warehouse, Broadway, Tony Award nomination), The Unexpected Man (RSC, West End, Broadway), Art (Broadway, West End, Los Angeles, Olivier Award and Tony Award nomination Best Director, Olivier and Tony Awards Best Play), Hamlet (RSC and US tour), Henry V (RSC) and Volpone (NT) for both of which he won Evening Standard Awards for Best Director, and Much Ado About Nothing (West End, Globe Theatre Award Most Promising Newcomer).
